This is my fourth moon man pen. I will probably purchase more. Companies that combine great quality with affordability garner appreciation from their customers. IMHO Moonman is such a company. The S1 is a pen that is comfortable in the hand. It feels light in weight but does not feel cheap. This blue acrylic writing instrument is beautiful. It reminds me of turquoise jewelry. I tried the fude nib that was actually on the pen when it was delivered. I knew I was getting a fude but was hoping for a mini-fude; like the one that came with my Moonman New Moon pen.That Mini-fude is great and can be used for every day writing, as an EDC. The regular fude on the other hand, for me, is nice for experimenting with writing, using a fude nib. Aside from that, It was unusable for my day to day writing. After switching the fude nib for the regular fine nib that came with the pen as a spare, it worked well.It required a bit of smoothing (like most of the pens I purchase do) to perform in the way I prefer. I’m glad the extra nib came with the pen. The only real problem I am having with this writing instrument is the threads that couple the cap with the section. It is too easy to cross-thread them. There are times when they merge perfectly and the cap goes on in just two turns. When it cross-threads however, it tends to repeatedly cross thread and it is difficult to find the sweet spot to make it thread properly. Then there is the annoying ritual of partially screwing the cap on in search of the sweet spot and then off when unsuccessful; time and time again. Often I will leave the cap cross-threaded (not on completely, to save time) just enough to keep it in place while it is in my pocket and the pen is not in use. I believe that this was a problem that got past QC and is not inherent in all S1’s. That notwithstanding, I like the pen so much that I will keep it in my regular rotation. I hope that with repeated use, I’ll find the sweet spot in the threads and be able to cap my pen properly, consistently. This experience will not dissuade me from purchasing Moonman pens. I still think they’re great!
