Maybe it should have been obvious, but I couldn't tell that the LED light was on the top of the pen. Since I wanted to be able to write in the dark, this was not at all helpful to have the light shining up into my eyes! I suppose if you want a not-too-bright flashlight on the end of your pen, it would be fine, but that wasn't what I was looking for.
